Mongolians typically divide their country into three main landscapes – the Gobi, Tal and Khangai (desert, steppe and mountain) but for our ‘Place To See In Mongolia’ posts we divide the country into five geographical sections (Gobi, Central Heartland, western Mongolia, northern Mongolia, eastern Mongolia) plus the capital city Ulaanbaatar.

Mongolia is the 18th largest country in the world and with a population of only just over 3 million, it is one of the least densely populated.  Our ‘Learn About Mongolia’ blog posts will help introduce you to a country that has the world’s fifth-largest desert (the Gobi),  a breeding population of snow leopards, Kazakh eagle hunters and a very modern capital city where Prius cars dominate.
